Twilights Could Have Been World Famous

Twilights Could Have Been World Famous

John Bywaters (Twilights Bassist): “I always maintained that The Twilights was more of a family unit than a band. We seemed to always act on our emotions rather than our business sense. We’d act from the heart rather than the head. We had sort of an unwritten law that whoever left the band, we would quit, we wouldn’t replace him with anybody. We’d just say “One family member’s gone – that’s it”. And when the time came for Laurie Pryor, who had been with the band for most of its success, and he decided not to go to England that forced the closure of the band. But I must admit we weren’t doing too good at the time. Our records had waned, we hadn’t had a hit for about a year and we felt in our hearts that we had run our course of Australian fame and if we couldn’t break out of Australia, then we would be doomed anyway. So when Laurie said “I’m not going to England”, we said “Bye Bye”. It was one of the most traumatic times of my life, I must admit.”
